Looking past the portraits face and going deep into the symbolic value of objects, is the essence of my work. I look at my portrait as the process of rediscovering value through the common objects that seem ordinary. Portraits and objects go hand and hand, when I’m discovering something about someone. Trying to recognize a part of them via objects is the beginning to portraiture and not the end for me. I try to redirect my focus to what an object can say about someone in a portrait. Using myself as the alchemist, that turns the décor piece into a subject that has representative value.
This portrait mixes the medium such as photography, painting and sculpture in order to create this illuminated effect from the darkness that surrounds it. I view this process as an ongoing journey that can lead me beyond the portraits face and into the translation of my inner visions for the object.
